Dear partners and friends of Art Cafe,

we would like to kindly invite you to the final event of the SLICE project – Slovak Icelandic cooperation in the development of small cultural centers (or “Slovak-Icelandic cultural exchange”), which will take place in the premises of the Art Cafe Banská Štiavnica on Friday, July 28, 2023 at 4:00 p.m., at Akademicka 2 in Banská Štiavnica. During this event, we will summarize the results of the project activities through short presentations. Project has been realized thanks to EEA Grants and funding of the Slovak state budget. Closing conference will include a concert of the talented Slovak jazz singer and musician, Ester Wiesnerová / Blue Journal at 18:00.

As you know, Banská Štiavnica was the Slovak city of culture in 2019, but a year later the Covid 19 pandemic hit the world and paralyzed artistic and cultural activities in our city. We are therefore happy that we could gradually build on these activities and implement a project between years 2021 and 2023 that contributed to the enrichment of the audience with the art of Iceland, but especially brought cultural and artistic activities to young people, seniors and excluded communities who, despite the growing interest in culture are not the traditional target audience for cultural events. The SLICE project was supported by the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area 2014-2021 and the state budget of the Slovak Republic within the program “Business in the field of culture, cultural heritage and cultural cooperation.” The organizer of the project was OZ Povala (Art Cafe Banská Štiavnica) and the main partner was the Rockall agency the association of Iceland (and their cultural center in Reykjavik).

During the closing conference we will informally discuss our experience, our achievements or frustrations. Please come and join us in our attic. We look forward to seeing you.
